Rebecca Kingsbury, one of the most successful high school field hockey coaches in California, has resigned due to complaints of verbal abuse. She also has many supporters and has not admitted wrongdoing, saying she "never claimed to be an 'easy' coach, but I have always promised to be a fair one."

Pollard Recovering
Iowa State University Athletic Director Jamie Pollard underwent open heart surgery last week after suffering a heart attack. The 1987 NCAA Division III champion in the 5,000-meter run, he is known as a visionary and hard-working administrator and has taken the Cyclones to new heights.
